The Antibody and Bioresource Core Facility (ABCF) supports researchers by making it easier for them to develop new monoclonal antibodies (MAbs). As an informational resource as well as service provider, the facility collaborates closely with faculty from MSK and Rockefeller University. It also supports Weill Cornell Medicine researchers as third-party clients.

Join the greater Weill Cornell Medicine community for the $100K Biomedical Business Plan Challenge Pitch Event. Faculty-led startups will have completed 10 weeks of rigorous instruction by life science professionals and, with the help of over two dozen industry mentors, created their initial business plans. This event provides an opportunity for the BPC startup teams to pitch their ideas to a group of prominent venture capital judges and compete for up to $100,000 in prize money.

A new generation of human model systems are coming to the forefront of drug development, including novel organoid, microphysiological and in silico platforms. With the passage of the FDA Modernization Act 2.0 in 2022, these cutting-edge systems are poised to gain increasing scientific, commercial and regulatory acceptance in replacing data traditionally sought from animal models. But how far can these systems go in displacing animals, and what commercial and regulatory challenges stand in their path?

The May 16th office hours will be hosted by James Bellush, Ph.D, Manager of Scientific Scouting. James is a trained molecular biologist with 10+ years of life sciences experience, specifically focused on drug development, biotech investing, and startup company operations. Before joining the CTL at Weill Cornell team, he was leading scientific diligence, preclinical development, commercial analysis and alliance management for a New York City based biotech venture capital firm. In his current role, James supports a broad portfolio of translational research projects at Weill Cornell through various mechanisms which include sourcing external funding opportunities, establishing biopharma research collaborations and helping advance drug candidates to partnership-ready stages.
