Center for Technology Licensing (CTL) at Weill Cornell Medicine Office Hours are open to all who wish to gain more information about the advancement of their patent filings and to discuss their technology venture project in a one-on-one meeting with a business development and licensing professional. The October office hours will be hosted by Brian Kelly, Ph.D., CLP, director of business development and licensing.
Brian manages a portfolio of inventions focusing on oncology, gene therapy, metabolic diseases, the microbiome and endocrine disorders. Prior to joining CTL at Weill Cornell, he served as director of intellectual property for New York University’s tech transfer office. He has also held positions at the University of Minnesota as a licensing associate, Heide, Hyde & O’Donnell as an associate European patent attorney and Smith, Kline & French as a research chemist.

Are you excited about RNA therapeutics, protein biologics, or the future of genomic medicine? Join us for a virtual fireside chat with Dr. Igor Splawski, chief scientific officer at Yarrow Biotechnology, Inc., a company incubated by RTW Investments.
In this insightful discussion, Dr. Splawski will delve into his distinguished career in drug development, including his pivotal role as chief scientific officer at CureVac, where he led a team of 150 scientists pioneering mRNA technologies and therapeutics for infectious diseases, cancer, and rare diseases. He will also share his experiences from 15 years at Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR), where he worked with a team of over 100 scientists advancing antibody and protein therapeutics.
This is a one-hour long pitch day for current undergraduate and graduate student founders who are looking to connect with alumni, market mappers and students who can help them along their journey. Founder pitches will occur for the first 30 minutes, followed by individual breakout rooms for Networking and Q&A for each founder. Attendees will have the ability to join the breakout rooms for founders who interest them. Moderators will be present to ensure all questions are answered.
We welcome all student founders to submit a three-minute pitch deck here by October 14th for the opportunity to pitch in front of the Cornell community. This is your opportunity to showcase your startup and leverage the Big Red Spirit to achieve your goals!
A community formed from participating organizations will select 7-10 founders for our first virtual demo day, by October 18th.

The Tuesday, October 22, office hours will be hosted virtually by Eric Bryant, Intellectual Property Officer, Biomedical Sciences.
Eric holds a Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering from New York University, a Juris Doctor from New York Law School, and is a registered patent attorney. He works with the Weill Cornell office to execute on intellectual property strategy, review submitted invention disclosures, and manage domestic and foreign patent filings and patent prosecution. Eric’s expertise encompasses a variety of technologies including, but not limited to, diagnostics tools and methods, pharmaceuticals, controlled release therapeutic devices, respiratory devices, surgical tools, biological technologies and nanotechnology.
