Friends of Cancer Research (Friends) and the Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy (PICI) are proud to announce our upcoming joint public meeting, Unlocking Complex Cell-based Gene Therapies. Discussions among key stakeholders at the meeting will enable the next generation of proposals in the rapidly changing cell and gene therapy space, reimagining trials and treatments for patients.

BioVenture eLab, a part of Weill Cornell Medicine Enterprise Innovation, invites you to an interview with Dr. Elizabeth Comen, author and breast cancer oncologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and assistant professor of medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College. This program is being hosted in collaboration with Women in Bio (WIB-Metro New York).

Join us for an interactive session with Dr. Comen highlighting her book "All In Her Head: The Truth and Lies Early Medicine Taught Us About Women’s Bodies and Why It Matters Today"an eye-opening account of medical history that is both a collective narrative of women’s bodies and experiences as well as a call to action for a new conversation around women’s health. The interview will be moderated by Dr. Lucia Regales, senior director of oncology clinical sciences at Curis.

Dr. Comen has appeared on "Good Morning America", "The Today Show", "The View", ABC News, NY1, Wall Street Journal online, Fox News and other news and print outlets, such as The New York Times, Today.com, Elle magazine, and Self magazine and is a well-known advocate in women's healthcare issues.

The event will be in-person at the BioVenture eLab space located at 1157 York Ave (between 62nd and 63rd St). Light snacks and beverages will be served and the event will feature a networking session with Women in Bio members and NYC life science industry representatives.

Now more than ever, we need deep tech solutions to address complex systemic problems facing society. Join this virtual workshop to meet and learn from entrepreneurs who are tackling these challenges. You’ll find out how they got off the ground and worked together within their sociotechnical ecosystems to make it happen.

Andrea Ippolito, founder of the baby-feeding support startup Simplifed and director of W.E. Cornell, will lead the session. She’ll be joined by panelists Dr. Katherine Saunders, co-founder of Intellihealth, and Brad Hartwig, CEO of Arbor.

As the world of AI continues to grow, we will dive into a couple of programs that have sprouted in the Technology Transfer space to understand how AI can be used to help the process of university commercialization functions. Marc Sedam of NYU and James Zanewicz of Tulane University will join us to discuss how their institutions have adopted the use of AI.

The presentation will give a brief overview of the strategy behind NYU's TOV-AI™ prompts, use cases including time and cost savings, and where technology transfer officers can find additional revenue through improved license compliance.

Tulane Medicine was one of the first Academic Medical Centers to join The Alliance for AI In Healthcare, recognizing the importance AI was going to play in the field. In addition to covering the AAIH and Tulane’s engagement with AI from an Industry perspective, the presentation will cover ways to employ AI in Business Development, Operational and Marketing/Communications initiatives.

In this month-long, hybrid course (May 13 - June 12), a select group of researchers working on life science technologies will "get out of their comfort zone" and talk to customers at the BIO International Convention to identify the best product-market fit. The course begins online and culminates with a trip to San Diego, CA for the BIO International ConventionUp to $5,000 (depending on team size) in travel reimbursement funding will be available for accepted teams (*International travel is prohibited. Travel reimbursement only available for domestic travel.).
